Prevailing with God in prayer is sacrosanct, and it is really what you need. But you see, if you are going to prevail with God in prayer, and have results from Him, then before you begin such prayers, whether for yourself, somebody else, or about any situation, the first thing is that you must get rid of sin, peradventure you have not been living right.
When you read through the Bible, there are prayers which are answered and there are those which remain unanswered. Our spiritual condition determines God’s response to us in prayer. Righteousness, being in right standing with God, is a prerequisite for answered prayers. However, the only problem which prevents righteousness is the sin issue. There are different kinds of sins that people commit; for instance, it can be the sin of pride and arrogance; if you don’t repent of them, you can’t prevail with God. The Bible says in Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold the Lords hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Remember that prayer is not a means of getting God to do our bidding but rather, it is a communication between two people in a relationship. The quality of the relationship will always impact on the quality of the communication. Christianity is a walk in righteousness. You can’t fellowship with God upon your sins; He is a just, righteous and holy God. Thankfully, God has made a provision to overcome the limitation which sin imposes. Once you realise you are a sinner, you ask God for forgiveness. He then removes the nature of sin and puts His nature in you.

His nature gives you the capacity to do right. However, your mind and emotions remain the same and need to be reprogrammed over time. While we are in the process, we make mistakes but the Bible informs us that there is a provision for forgiveness so that we have a platform for communicating with God. A saved person does not make it a practice to sin. His Word is a cleanser; it sanctifies and purifies your heart of sin and all unrighteousness. Give yourself to the Word. His Word is the true light to guide you always in the path of righteousness. In order; to impact your generation and be what God wants you to become, you must get rid of sin.
