Revelation 8:3-5

As we all know, we are in the last days, which are the days of the manifestation of God’s power. So it is important, for you to know that, your prayers are used by God in a very special way to break the powers of darkness.

Several times in the bible, virtue or power is transferred from a source to a recipient through prayer. This is a prophetic picture of how your prayers; are used by God to influence earthly events. In order words, when your prayers are mixed with God’s frankincense and cast back into the earth, a powerful display of lightning, thunder and an earthquake results. For instance, we see this happening in Acts 4:31; And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. When we send our prayers by God’s spirit to His throne, He sends them back in a way that can be seen, heard and felt here on earth. Our Bible text reveals that prayer can work wonders beyond our wildest imagination. It also reveals the inevitability of prayer in our lives. If Jesus could do nothing without prayer, then we should not think that an effective prayer life is optional in our Christian walk. Oftentimes, when we talk about prayer, what comes to people’s mind is asking God for things, making entreaties and requests; that is all they know about prayer. Yes, such a prayer has its place, where you make requests, but prayer has higher purposes than asking God for your needs.

So you must understand; that it takes a genuine thirst to encounter the power of God. Empowerment answers to demand, not wishes and that is why the altar of prayer is the altar of empowerment. From scriptures, desperation is interpreted as a thirst, a crave, a longing and a panting. As it is written in psalm 63:1-2: O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. when Jesus engaged the altar of prayer on the Mount of transfiguration, He was empowered and the people were amazed at the mighty power of God. So It is important to understand today that, prayer breaks the powers of darkness.
