Before now, the Lord did not command you to arise and shine because there was nothing to aid your shinning; but now, He is declaring that your light has come.
The truth Holy Spirit is relaying to your spirit through this passage today is that this statement is an express command. Here, the Almighty God is commanding you to arise! It is someone who is either sitting or laying down that would be commanded to arise. So, when God says “Arise”, it presupposes that you are either sitting down idle, or that you are on a bed enjoying the sleep of death. I command this day that whosoever is wasting away his or her time in idleness or in the sleep of sin and death will arise in the Name of Jesus Christ! In addition, you are not commanded to arise into obscurity; rather, you are commanded to arise and shine. I also decree that all who are reading this article today will arise from their state of obscurity and mediocrity and come to the limelight of success in Jesus’ Name. This light is not from the sun but from the glory of God shinning on you. It is written in John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Jesus Christ is the light of the world. There is fear on every side that darkness, wickedness, oppression and all sort of demonic activities have permeated the society. The darkness i am talking about is not the absence of physical light. I am talking about spiritual darkness, principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). But there is a sound of abundance revival coming and this brings about the call of God on you to Arise and shine.
SUMMARY: You must respond to the awakening call to arise and shine for your light has come. Are you still in darkness? Why has your light not come? It may be because you have not embraced the Light. If that is the case, today is your day. Accept Jesus, the Light, into your life today and darkness will no longer comprehend you, and therefore will be unable to stop you (John 1:5).
God has given you power to provoke the rain of blessing upon your life.
He also give you power to control and determine events, both in your life and around your life. The Bible says in Joel 2:23 -27 (KJV) Be glad then, ye children of Zion and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the Latter rain in the first month and the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God, then hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. I hear the Lord say to someone today there will be no more lack, beginning from today, your dramatic adventure begins and whatever was robbed from you, shall be restored to you by this rain of God’s blessing. When you provoke the rain of God’s blessing it terminates shame, brings decoration, elevation, distinction and celebration into your life.
Life is an adventure of faith, and you are like a merchant, who invests today in that which will pay dividend tomorrow. You are like a farmer, who sows various kinds of seeds in different soil (soul), trusting God for the harvest. If you worry about the wind topping a tree over you, or the cloud drenching you with rain, you will never provoke the rain of God’s blessing in your life. You must live by faith in God’s word and use each day wisely. Get up early and sow your seed, and work hard till evening (of your life). No godly investment is a waste; you only need to provoke the rain of God’s blessing.
Looking up to God for victory in time of crisis is the cheapest way to be victorious. Victory is an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game or other competition.
God miraculously saved Israel from slavery in Egypt but ever since they had been saved they faced one hardship after another. The wilderness was not an easy place for the people of Israel because they drink Bitter water, lack of food, lack of water, all of these trials faced Israel on their exit from Egypt. But now, they face a different kind of challenges. The Amalekites come out to meet them not in friendship but to attack them without mercy but they look up to God for victory. The wilderness of your life may be difficult, you might be threatened with cancer, death of loved ones, battling with depression, nagging illness and marital challenges look up to God for victory. Life’s Journey involves much more than merely reaching a destination. The victory over the amalekites involved the power of God in heaven, the military skill of Joshua, the army on the battlefield, the lifting up of the Rod of God by Moses, the intercessory support of Aaron and Hur on top of the hill and looking up to God for victory. God could have sent angels to annihilate the Amalekites but He designs to use human instruments to accomplish His purposes.
Joshua and his men look up to God for victory and fight, Moses believed God to uphold the lifting up of the Rod of God, Aaron and Hur would uphold the hand of Moses in continuous intercession and God will do the rest. Joshua, Moses, Aaron and Hur could not have succeeded without looking up to God for victory. God is expecting you to look up to Him anytime you are passing through difficult situation for victory. It is written in Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Jesus also told us in this world you will have trouble, your life in the wilderness of this world are difficult but you have one who is willing and able to lead you through hardship. He is with you, He is for you and in Him there is victory. Not victory that delivers you from bad circumstances but victory that delivers you through bad circumstances. The Amalekites initiated this conflict because they were related to the people of Israel. Amalek was a grandson of Esau, Jacob’s brother. They were attacking Israel at their weakest point. God is expecting you to learn a great lesson from this first battle the children of Israel fought.
As I conclude it is written in Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the Joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. As you are looking up to God for victory, you are confessing total dependence on the authority and power of God for victory.
I understand from the scriptures that your settlement is crucial to God, because He cares about you.
That’s why the bible says: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you (1 peter 5:10). Every prophetic word from God is designed for fulfillment for He cares. As it is written: And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the lord (Luke 1:45). This is because prophecies are not psychological predictions, but the unveiling of divine plans for you which shows that He cares.
You must understand that God speaks according to His resources and not your scarcity. He speaks according to His integrity and not your fallibility. He also speaks according to His size and His unlimited capacity to let you know that He cares. It is important to know that only God’s hand can perform whatever He says. However, without your faith, you cannot take delivery of it. It is written in Psalm 55:22 “cast your burden on the lord (releasing the weight of it) and He will sustain you; He will never allow the (consistently) righteous to be moved made to slip, fall, or fail Amplified Bible. You must recognize that the Bible is a book of covenants and God’s covenant with man in scriptures is binding as long as the earth remains. Therefore, you must understand that it is your faith in the settled word of God that guarantees you that He cares.
The program of God through history is like a relay race, and in this race you must run with a victory in mind.
Apostle Paul uses two illustrations to describe the Christian and Christianity: the runner and the fighter. his purpose of these common illustrations is to help you understand your role in this race as child of God. In a race the rule is that if one runner drop out the whole team loses. If one runner lose the baton the whole team is eliminated. If one runner break the rules the whole team is disqualified. The work of no runner counts until every runner does his share and the anchor man hits the tape at the finished line. There are lots of distractions as you run the race passers by beckons on you, false goals attracts you, competition discourage you, and opposition causes you to falter. The lord Jesus, is a tried and trusted leader who blazed the trail of faith by His own obedience and perseverance He finished the course in a burst of glory He is your guide and your goal. However you must run with victory in mind in order to win the race. The word of God says in Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, so be as earnest to make heaven as an athlete that is running with a victory in mind to win a race. You must go into strict training, and make every effort to add to your faith goodness, knowledge and self control for if you possess all these qualities, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our lord Jesus Christ.
Like an athlete keep your body under control and bring it into subjection in order to gain eternal rewards and joy. In 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Bible saysI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Fellow runner, do not just be a partaker but run with a victory in mind to win the race.
We recognize from the scriptures that light from heaven through the Word of God is the foundation of Kingdom mysteries that guarantees fall of the oppressor.
The Word of God is the master key to a world of supernatural fall of the oppressor. Nahum directs his prophetic words against the people of Nineveh. Nineveh was the capital city of the Assyrian Empire, the great power of the time. The Assyrians had conquered the ten northern tribes of Israel in 722 BC and had transplanted their people. In the years after that the Assyrians continued their brutal empire building all through the Middle Eastern world. They invaded the kingdom of Judah many times. They destroyed cities, and burned farmland, and put the city of Jerusalem under siege more than once. Assyria had carried off kings, and took treasures, and left Judah in a most vulnerable position. God made everything and He owns everything, He is not envy of anyone but He is jealous over His glory, His name, the worship and honour that is due to Him. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies. The lord your God has risen on your behalf to thwart the evil plans and plots of your oppressors. I hear Him say, today marks the fall of the oppressor in your life. God will break the yoke and remove the shackles that your oppressors had put on you and they will attack you no more.
Also, understand that every redeemed soul is a potential star, but you cannot emerge a star with the mentality of a common man. You should know and remember that God has completely defeated sin, death and Satan your enemy. You are now free to enjoy the blessings of salvation. Always bear in mind that a believer who does not know how to be angry at sin can never know how to enjoy the goodness of God. In case you remember what made you to fall into the hand of an oppressor, know that God has promised fall of the oppressor. Go and sin no more.
A godly man can only be preserved when he maintains a lifestyle of purity.
A condition must be fulfilled; before you can be preserved by God. It is another foundational stone, for a godly man and that pivotal factor is a life of purity. Purity is the gateway, to be preserved by God. It will guarantee, unending manifestations in your life, and cause the power of God to flow unhindered through you. Although signs and wonders are the heritage of all saints, the power to bring it only flows through a sanctified vessels. You will see, a clear picture of this in the time of Elisha he was preserved, by God because he maintained a lifestyle of purity.
Gehazi his servant was destined to obtain a double portion of hisanointing, but he lost it to sin. When Gehazi, was given the rod of his master, to go and raise the shunammite woman’s dead son in 2 Kings 4, the rod could not produce anything. The reason was not clear then but it became glaring later, when he pursued after Naaman for a talent of silver and two changes of garments. It was then, that corruption in the heart of Gehazi was revealed. You will not be preserved, by God until corruption in all its ramifications is dealt with. If the rod could not produce anything in Gehazi’s hands, then it will not produce in the corrupt hands of any believer either. Until sin goes, you can never be preserved. Sin, whether in the heart or in deed is a major hindrance to preservation.
David understood the importance of preservation, he cry out to God for preservation he said preserve me, O God. Because he was in a great distress and danger of death, but God preserved him by putting a hedge about him so that the devil could not attack him. You as a child of God, has been hedged so that nothing harmful is allow to come in your direction. That was the whole, force of what David was saying to the Lord. When you live, in the presence of the lord and maintain a lifestyle of purity, you will be preserved. In John 8:46, the Lord Jesus boldly declare, which of you convinceth me of sin?because He was a man of purity, a sanctified vessel. As a result of that , He enjoyed Supernatural preservation through his life here on earth. The place of preservation in manifestations of purity cannot be over emphasized, because it controls the release of the power you need to live for God. Therefore if you are not a lover of purity, you cannot be preserved by God. The only way you can be preserved is to live a godly life.
Without any doubt, health stands out as the greatest asset of life. God does not want you to be only spiritually robust; but also physically, mentally, psychologically and emotionally healthy.
We are living in a time in which millions of people are exploring alternatives to western medicine. This has been called health explosion. You must have realized that western medicine is valuable and for some of you when you are sick, it is the first place you turn to. It is a gift from God, and I thank God for the dedicated person who serve their fellow human beings through the practice of western medicine.
In the world today, health care is one of the costliest services; that is why God is telling you today there is a balm in Gilead and I will cure you. Balm was a healing ointment used to treat wounds and diseases while Gilead was a place in Israel where healing balm was produced in great abundance; many physicians set up their practice there because it was such a great source of balm.
Prophet Jeremiah identified with the hurts of the people, his heart fainted and he mourned in horror as he felt the heavy burden that was crushing the land. The false prophets have made wrong diagnoses and give wrong prescription and the wounds of the nation were still open, bleeding, and infected. One of the first objects of a physician is to give hope to the sick for without it he will accomplish little. It is Important to distinguish between the symptoms of a disease and the disease itself. Weakness and failure in your prayer life is a sign of spiritual weakness. There is balm in Gilead but you must believe and receive into your heart; the divine promises of God because the healing itself is in the power of God through the blood of Jesus.
The death of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary and His resurrection marked the end of your defeat. Through this, you are supernaturally transformed from defeat to victory, from captivity to liberty.
It is impossible to find a Christian who is totally removed from pains and sorrows. However when you remember the faithfulness of God, you know that there is hope and this will help you not to pay attention to any ugly situation which you are passing through. Confession of faith replaces contemplating of troubles as you realize God’s mercy, compassion and faithfulness that do not fail. The victory that you have in Jesus, turns your filthiness to holiness that means every deadly habit inflicted by the enemy to destroy your destiny, is destroyed by the power of Christ’s resurrection. It is clear and certain that because God loves us, He chastens us but He does not consume us; He disciplines us but does not destroy us (Hebrews 12:5-11). You display an act of unbelief when you look at God through your circumstances and this creates hopelessness; but faith enables you to look at your circumstances through the reality of God, and it gives you hope. Jesus’ mockers spat on His face, placed a crown of thorns on His head and made Him a laughing stock for passersby, but He was raised in glory. Therefore, the power of Jesus’ resurrection is ordained to restore your glory. Your circumstances change, and so do your feelings about them. You invite constant unrest and disappointment when you build life on the things that always change, but when you build on changeless and eternal God you will have peace and confidence. The secret of victory in time of trials is submission to the lord and accept His verdict.
When you are in pain and perplexity, know that the lord will never cast you off and will not forget you. No matter what you are passing through in life, you must always remind yourself that you have victory in Jesus.
In conclusion, you can only access your heritage in Christ from the Word if you are born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with your precious Blood. Today, I accept you as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus, for saving me! Now I know I am born again!
Life is sustained in this world when you keep the fire burning. This fire also sustains spiritual life in this world.
It is an important life sustaining element both physically and spiritually. Fire keeps us warm, allows us to cook food, to boil water and purify it, it provides heat and light in the darkness. It can also be your distress signal in the world. Fire is the most valuable resource for survival in this world in which we live. We need to make sure we know how to build a fire and how to keep the fire burning. The key to survival in this world is fire and the ability to keep it burning spiritually as well as physically. The fire was to be kept burning continuously without stopping as a symbol of unceasing worship which God requires from His people. You are called to keep the fire of your private prayer burning. Just as the natural fire is kept burning by throwing more wood into it, God’s word is the wood that keeps prayer fire burning. Your secret devotion is the essence, the evidence and the barometer of your vital walk with God. We read in the bible in Luke 5:16 “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. You notice that the lord Himself so many times sought freedom from the crowd to pray. I hear Paul saying in Colossians 1:9 “for this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you, asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Fire is spoken about in the Bible 549 times and is used as a symbol of life spiritually, it burns up sin, and it purifies your soul, we use it to give God offerings, the fire on the altar of your heart sustains your spiritual life. The fire of God must be kept burning in your lives because that is what helps you to sustain your soul and spiritual life. His fire enables you to live a life of blessings. There are several fire extinguishers you need to keep away from in order to enjoy the unseen hand behind the wall pouring the sacred oil upon your altar to make it carry burdens in your heart and daily seek guidance for your journeys through life. Every one born of God is born an overcomer, and is by heritage destined to live a triumphant life.
As a child of God you should not be struggling to survive or be a liability, when you should be an asset to the kingdom of God and your generation. God has created you not for troubles but for triumph. However, the divine provisions made for you by God to live a triumphant life are to keep the fire burning at the place of prayer.
