Before now, the Lord did not command you to arise and shine because there was nothing to aid your shinning; but now, He is declaring that your light has come.
The truth Holy Spirit is relaying to your spirit through this passage today is that this statement is an express command. Here, the Almighty God is commanding you to arise! It is someone who is either sitting or laying down that would be commanded to arise. So, when God says “Arise”, it presupposes that you are either sitting down idle, or that you are on a bed enjoying the sleep of death. I command this day that whosoever is wasting away his or her time in idleness or in the sleep of sin and death will arise in the Name of Jesus Christ! In addition, you are not commanded to arise into obscurity; rather, you are commanded to arise and shine. I also decree that all who are reading this article today will arise from their state of obscurity and mediocrity and come to the limelight of success in Jesus’ Name. This light is not from the sun but from the glory of God shinning on you. It is written in John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Jesus Christ is the light of the world. There is fear on every side that darkness, wickedness, oppression and all sort of demonic activities have permeated the society. The darkness i am talking about is not the absence of physical light. I am talking about spiritual darkness, principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). But there is a sound of abundance revival coming and this brings about the call of God on you to Arise and shine.
SUMMARY: You must respond to the awakening call to arise and shine for your light has come. Are you still in darkness? Why has your light not come? It may be because you have not embraced the Light. If that is the case, today is your day. Accept Jesus, the Light, into your life today and darkness will no longer comprehend you, and therefore will be unable to stop you (John 1:5).
God has given you power to provoke the rain of blessing upon your life.
He also give you power to control and determine events, both in your life and around your life. The Bible says in Joel 2:23 -27 (KJV) Be glad then, ye children of Zion and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the Latter rain in the first month and the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God, then hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. I hear the Lord say to someone today there will be no more lack, beginning from today, your dramatic adventure begins and whatever was robbed from you, shall be restored to you by this rain of God’s blessing. When you provoke the rain of God’s blessing it terminates shame, brings decoration, elevation, distinction and celebration into your life.
Life is an adventure of faith, and you are like a merchant, who invests today in that which will pay dividend tomorrow. You are like a farmer, who sows various kinds of seeds in different soil (soul), trusting God for the harvest. If you worry about the wind topping a tree over you, or the cloud drenching you with rain, you will never provoke the rain of God’s blessing in your life. You must live by faith in God’s word and use each day wisely. Get up early and sow your seed, and work hard till evening (of your life). No godly investment is a waste; you only need to provoke the rain of God’s blessing.
Looking up to God for victory in time of crisis is the cheapest way to be victorious. Victory is an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game or other competition.
God miraculously saved Israel from slavery in Egypt but ever since they had been saved they faced one hardship after another. The wilderness was not an easy place for the people of Israel because they drink Bitter water, lack of food, lack of water, all of these trials faced Israel on their exit from Egypt. But now, they face a different kind of challenges. The Amalekites come out to meet them not in friendship but to attack them without mercy but they look up to God for victory. The wilderness of your life may be difficult, you might be threatened with cancer, death of loved ones, battling with depression, nagging illness and marital challenges look up to God for victory. Life’s Journey involves much more than merely reaching a destination. The victory over the amalekites involved the power of God in heaven, the military skill of Joshua, the army on the battlefield, the lifting up of the Rod of God by Moses, the intercessory support of Aaron and Hur on top of the hill and looking up to God for victory. God could have sent angels to annihilate the Amalekites but He designs to use human instruments to accomplish His purposes.
Joshua and his men look up to God for victory and fight, Moses believed God to uphold the lifting up of the Rod of God, Aaron and Hur would uphold the hand of Moses in continuous intercession and God will do the rest. Joshua, Moses, Aaron and Hur could not have succeeded without looking up to God for victory. God is expecting you to look up to Him anytime you are passing through difficult situation for victory. It is written in Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Jesus also told us in this world you will have trouble, your life in the wilderness of this world are difficult but you have one who is willing and able to lead you through hardship. He is with you, He is for you and in Him there is victory. Not victory that delivers you from bad circumstances but victory that delivers you through bad circumstances. The Amalekites initiated this conflict because they were related to the people of Israel. Amalek was a grandson of Esau, Jacob’s brother. They were attacking Israel at their weakest point. God is expecting you to learn a great lesson from this first battle the children of Israel fought.
As I conclude it is written in Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the Joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. As you are looking up to God for victory, you are confessing total dependence on the authority and power of God for victory.
I understand from the scriptures that your settlement is crucial to God, because He cares about you.
That’s why the bible says: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you (1 peter 5:10). Every prophetic word from God is designed for fulfillment for He cares. As it is written: And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the lord (Luke 1:45). This is because prophecies are not psychological predictions, but the unveiling of divine plans for you which shows that He cares.
You must understand that God speaks according to His resources and not your scarcity. He speaks according to His integrity and not your fallibility. He also speaks according to His size and His unlimited capacity to let you know that He cares. It is important to know that only God’s hand can perform whatever He says. However, without your faith, you cannot take delivery of it. It is written in Psalm 55:22 “cast your burden on the lord (releasing the weight of it) and He will sustain you; He will never allow the (consistently) righteous to be moved made to slip, fall, or fail Amplified Bible. You must recognize that the Bible is a book of covenants and God’s covenant with man in scriptures is binding as long as the earth remains. Therefore, you must understand that it is your faith in the settled word of God that guarantees you that He cares.
The program of God through history is like a relay race, and in this race you must run with a victory in mind.
Apostle Paul uses two illustrations to describe the Christian and Christianity: the runner and the fighter. his purpose of these common illustrations is to help you understand your role in this race as child of God. In a race the rule is that if one runner drop out the whole team loses. If one runner lose the baton the whole team is eliminated. If one runner break the rules the whole team is disqualified. The work of no runner counts until every runner does his share and the anchor man hits the tape at the finished line. There are lots of distractions as you run the race passers by beckons on you, false goals attracts you, competition discourage you, and opposition causes you to falter. The lord Jesus, is a tried and trusted leader who blazed the trail of faith by His own obedience and perseverance He finished the course in a burst of glory He is your guide and your goal. However you must run with victory in mind in order to win the race. The word of God says in Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, so be as earnest to make heaven as an athlete that is running with a victory in mind to win a race. You must go into strict training, and make every effort to add to your faith goodness, knowledge and self control for if you possess all these qualities, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our lord Jesus Christ.
Like an athlete keep your body under control and bring it into subjection in order to gain eternal rewards and joy. In 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Bible saysI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Fellow runner, do not just be a partaker but run with a victory in mind to win the race.
We recognize from the scriptures that light from heaven through the Word of God is the foundation of Kingdom mysteries that guarantees fall of the oppressor.
The Word of God is the master key to a world of supernatural fall of the oppressor. Nahum directs his prophetic words against the people of Nineveh. Nineveh was the capital city of the Assyrian Empire, the great power of the time. The Assyrians had conquered the ten northern tribes of Israel in 722 BC and had transplanted their people. In the years after that the Assyrians continued their brutal empire building all through the Middle Eastern world. They invaded the kingdom of Judah many times. They destroyed cities, and burned farmland, and put the city of Jerusalem under siege more than once. Assyria had carried off kings, and took treasures, and left Judah in a most vulnerable position. God made everything and He owns everything, He is not envy of anyone but He is jealous over His glory, His name, the worship and honour that is due to Him. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies. The lord your God has risen on your behalf to thwart the evil plans and plots of your oppressors. I hear Him say, today marks the fall of the oppressor in your life. God will break the yoke and remove the shackles that your oppressors had put on you and they will attack you no more.
Also, understand that every redeemed soul is a potential star, but you cannot emerge a star with the mentality of a common man. You should know and remember that God has completely defeated sin, death and Satan your enemy. You are now free to enjoy the blessings of salvation. Always bear in mind that a believer who does not know how to be angry at sin can never know how to enjoy the goodness of God. In case you remember what made you to fall into the hand of an oppressor, know that God has promised fall of the oppressor. Go and sin no more.
